Joe Wilcox: Last week's Microsoft netbook perception-busting exercise doesn't change two realities: Linux is big on the category analysts call mini-notebooks, and nearly none of these low-cost, low-powered portables ships with Windows Vista. But what about Windows 7?

As I have asserted so many times: Perception means everything in business. During last week's Professional Developer Conference, Steven Sinofsky did some amazing perception setting sleight of hand by showing his computer of the moment: "It's a really small netbook. And I'm using this with Windows 7."
